Drugmaker Eli Lilly has spent a decade downplaying serious health risks of Zyprexa, its best-selling medication for schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, according to internal documents obtained by The New York Times. The documents, provided to the newspaper by a lawyer for patients suing the drugmaker, suggest that the company told sales representatives to minimize its own published data, which show that 30% of Zyprexa users gain 22 pounds or more after a year on the drug.
